Alexander Evans is a Professor in Practice in Public Policy at the London School of Economics where he teaches courses on diplomacy, technology and long-term policymaking. Since January 2025 he has also been Associate Dean of the School of Public Policy. A career British diplomat, he formerly worked as an advisor to the Prime Minister in 10 Downing Street, Strategy Director in the Cabinet Office, and Director Cyber in the Foreign Office. He has served as Deputy and Acting High Commissioner to India and (briefly) Pakistan, led the United Nations Security Council expert group on Daesh, Al Qaida and the Taliban, and was a senior advisor in the U.S. Department of State. His past academic posts include serving as the Henry Kissinger Chair in Foreign Policy at the Library of Congress, a Senior Fellow at Yale, and a Gwilym Gibbon Fellow at Nuffield College Oxford. Alexander is a non-executive director of the Internet Watch Foundation. His current research project is on regulatory diplomacy and cybersecurity.
