Closing the Gap 2022: Responsibility in Cyberspace
On 8 and 9 June 2022, the second edition of the Closing the Gap conference took place in Brussels, Belgium. The Hague Program on International Cyber Security was one of the supporting organizations for this event.
This two-day conference, focused on responsibilty and accountability in cyberspace, was organized by the EU Cyber Direct project in cooperation with the Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs and supported by numerous research institutes and civil society organisations from around the world.
The opening remarks were given by Mathieu Michel, Belgian State Secretary for Digitization, in charge of Administrative Simplification, Privacy and Buildings Administration, followed by various panel sessions on the theme of responsibility and accountability in cyberspace. The discussions during the different panels and roundtables highlighted the diversity of approaches on these matters. It showed the relevance of Closing the Gap in contributing to exchange views on these questions among researchers and policy makers from different geographical and disciplinary backgrounds.
From The Hague Program on International Cyber Security, Monica Kaminska, Dennis Broeders, and François Delerue were in attendance, as well as Non-Resident Associate Fellows Enrico Calandro and Bart Hogeveen.
